"Late Bloomer"

I'm probably the only senior in my school
That hasn't gotten their driver's license
I'm a late bloomer, for sure
And no doubt I'm running out of patience

I have three more months until my road test
So the nervousness hasn't kicked in yet
But I'm sure it definitely will soon
Everyone says you'll be fine, no sweat!

I need to learn parallel parking
As quickly as I can
My brother keeps saying he'll teach me
But what he says never goes as planned

My whole life depends on that day of the test
Because as a college student, I'll be a commuter
And the test is two weeks before the semester starts
If I fail, I guess I'll just have to ride a scooter

But for now, I'll just have to wait it out
And take any chance I get to practice
Before I know it I'll be a college student
As I sit and write, I'm becoming more anxious!

"Goodbye Cellphone"

As I was getting ready to leave class
I grabbed my bag from the chair
And there my phone fell to its last
Speechless, all I did was stand and stare

Unfortunately the screen had shattered
To the point of no return
The pieces of the screen were scattered
And to my parents this would be a huge concern

There was three months left on the contract
I had to wait 'til then to get a new device
But I needed one in case of emergencies
Getting a new one wouldn't be that easy and nice

I went home and broke it to my parents
Luckily they weren't so super upset
They just told me to be more careful next time
My mom gave me her old phone and said, "don't fret!"

It was only one of those ancient phones
Not touch screen, no fancy shmancy parts
But I'm thankful that I'll have a phone in the meantime
I just hope I'll be careful and won't tear it apart
